Spending money is way more fun than saving it.

Hello everyone.  I think this one will be pretty short. I really didn’t do much at all this week. Usually, I have some good story to tell from a weekend adventure. This week I have no stories because I really didn’t do anything exciting. I am feeling a bit weird writing this now. Usually, I know exactly what I want to write about before I even sit down to start typing. I was thinking about what I would write about while I was at work today and all I could think about was how I went out for ramen and one drink with coworkers after work on Saturday evening. I am happy that this feels like such a rarity. I guess it is a sign that I have been doing a good job enjoying my time here in Japan. I guess I could write some corny bit about my reflection on my time in Japan so far or my year in 2014. But honestly I haven’t really thought about anything like that. I am sure I will have some moment where all this stuff that I have been doing takes me back and gives me some sentimental overload, but so far that has not come. Even on New Years Eve this year- a time where I usually find myself thinking to myself about what happened over the past year- I was really just looking forward to the next day’s snowboarding trip. Now I am sitting here babbling to whoever is still reading after the riveting introduction I have written thus far, about a bunch of crap. Look out people this is gonna be a good one.

So yea, this week was pretty standard….. but I digress….

I cleaned my room on Sunday. Oh yea and I woke up early to watch the Ravens game. It was an awesome game to watch… until we lost. I am looking forward to next season. That is all I will say about that.

My room is pretty clean now though. I had so much time on my hands that I even decided to clean out the shower drain. I am still putting off cleaning up the tomato plants on my balcony which have been dead for about 4 months now. You know, I cant have my neighbors thinking I moved out or anything.

After football and cleaning on Sunday, I read a lot. I am hoping to finish up this last Game of Thrones book soon so I can start reading something new. The books have been good, but they take forever to read. At times they are so boring that I have gone weeks without reading a page. Now that I am close to the end it is getting interesting. Really I am just looking forward to reading something a bit more interesting; sometimes these books feel like a chore to read.

I did go to the grocery store too. I got some things for the week. I would go into detail and name every item I bought, but that might really put you to sleep if you are not there already.

I went to bed kind of early on Sunday. Monday I woke up and called my Mom to wish her a happy birthday. Things sound like they are going as they usually do around home. There is always some news about some animal. Usually news about a new addition to the menagerie or some story about an animal getting hurt or misbehaving (whether it be two-legged or four-legged). I am consistently amazed (but not so surprised) by stories about my mom. Giving babies special treatments, wrestling donkeys and ending up having to get stitches of her own, and usually being able to gently persuade the animals to do anything they do not want to be forced into by my father. And she is always pretty modest too, so I am sure there are lots of other things that I just haven’t heard about. I am always happy to hear from the family back home, and this time was no different. It was nice to chat for a while and be brought up to speed on things around the farm. This was easily the highlight of the weekend.

I also watched some of the other football games on Monday morning, then read a lot. I didn’t leave my apartment until about 8pm and that was only to go to Starbucks and read there. I couldn’t go a full day without leaving my apartment so that short trip to Starbucks accomplished the goal for the day.

So overall this weekend was pretty wild and crazy! Sorry for the thrilling post. I hope no one fell out of their chair. On the plus side I didn’t spend much money at all! After my trip to Hokkaido I really need to lay low for a little while and refill the coffers so I guess this weekend was the first step in that plan. We will see if I will be able to fight the temptations for two weekends in a row! I do have a work party Saturday night, which should be really cheap if not free for me. We got a reward from the head office for hitting all of our goals since March. The reward was some money which is to be used to take us all out for drinks and food. I am looking forward to that. Sunday and Monday I have no plan though. I guess we will see what happens.

Anyway, thanks for reading this week. I hope everyone had a more eventful week than I did. Feel free to share. Until next time, stay classy.
